Cult of PiN Missions & Rituals

Green lights, Altar charges, and board-breaking Rituals explained.

Missions & Rituals

Missions turn pinball motion into a readable quest list. Rituals turn that list into table-wide payoffs. If Multiball feels random, this page is your fix.

Mission lighting

Missions required for the active Ritual illuminate — often green for the starter Multiball path. Complete the required set (commonly eight) to fire the Ritual. Required missions reshuffle; adapt instead of forcing one lane forever.

Altar progression

Hitting the central Altar fills Ritual unlock potential. When filled, unlock a new Ritual colour or upgrade an existing Ritual to raise damage and reduce mission count. Upgrades are how skilled players accelerate mid-run.

Ritual examples players meet early

Multiball floods the table. Tempest and Inferno-style effects melt bumper HP. Ball-specific Rituals may spawn bombs or specialty threats. Match Glyph buys to the Ritual you actually unlocked.

Why this is the roguelike hook

The embedded design talk video frames the hybrid: arcade physics plus build payoffs. Missions are the bridge — they create agency between bounces.

Practical sequencing

  1. Identify illuminated missions. 2. Cradle for the awkward ones. 3. Spend Altar unlocks intentionally. 4. Do not ignore mission damage while shopping vanity Glyphs (Glyph Progress).

Curses and traits

Later Acts add curses and table traits that invert flippers or otherwise rewrite rules. Read them before the next plunge — Blessings & Curses.

Reading the top-left like a pro

Ritual progress, next mission hint, and unlocked Ritual colours are your quest log. If you ignore them, Cult of PiN becomes random pinball. If you honour them, it becomes a readable roguelike.

Altar decision tree

If you have one Ritual you love, upgrade it. If your ball’s identity is blocked, unlock the missing colour. If you are about to face a boss with low damage, prefer power over novelty.

Teaching friends

When spectating, narrate mission lights out loud. New players learn faster from hearing priorities than from watching flips.
