Cult of PiN Getting Started
Day-one path from tutorial lights to a clean first table clear.
Cult of PiN throws arcade chaos and deckbuilding menus at you in the same minute. This Getting Started guide slows the first hour so you understand what the table is asking before you chase leaderboard fantasies.
What the game is asking
Each Act asks you to destroy bumpers, complete missions, survive drains with limited spare balls, and eventually defeat a Boss Bumper. Winning is not a classic high-score-only fantasy — it is stage clearance with escalating traits.
Tutorial truths to keep
Hold flippers to cradle. Nudge has a cooldown and no classic tilt lock. Chain the illuminated missions — often eight green ones — to fire a Ritual such as Multiball or Tempest. Hit the central Altar repeatedly to unlock additional Ritual colours. Peek with Shift (or the West face button) to tilt the camera when targets hide.
First session checklist
- Finish the short tutorial without skipping tooltips. 2. Open Controls and bind what feels natural. 3. Practise cradle on empty space before greed-ramping. 4. Complete missions even when bumper HP looks high — mission damage ramps matter. 5. Visit the mana shop calmly after Act one; do not panic-buy.
Video mid-run mindset
The embedded demo playthrough shows how crowded the UI becomes once Multiball and bosses overlap. Pause mentally the same way: read Ritual icons top-left, then shoot.
After the tutorial table
Read Missions & Rituals the same day. Then pick a comfortable ball from Starter Ball Picks. When bosses appear, jump to How to Beat Bosses.
Mana and Glyphs without overwhelm
Mana arrives after Acts. Buy one clear fantasy: more mission value, more raw damage, or Ritual support. Compare ideas later on the Glyph Tier List.
Difficulty advice
Stay on easier settings until Act VI is consistent. Difficulty Guide explains what higher modes add (blockers, timers, traits).
Platforms
Windows, macOS, Linux, and Steam Deck are first-class. Full controller support is excellent — see System Requirements.
Common early failures
Ignoring cradle, nudging on cooldown, selling out for score Glyphs before mission damage exists, and fighting inverted-flipper curses without reading them. Slow down; the table rewards literacy.

First-hour mistakes to delete
Do not open Endless curiosity before Act VI literacy. Do not buy three score Glyphs before a single mission amplifier. Do not ignore Peek when a top light is the entire Ritual chain. Do not blame the ball until you have ten clean cradles.
A gentle first clear plan
Stay on a friendly difficulty, refuse chaos balls, open Starter Ball Picks, and treat the mana shop like a grocery list written before hunger hits. After the clear, read Act VI & Endless once — then rest.
Extra practical detail for guides getting-started.json
Focus on one measurable improvement next run: fewer drains, faster Ritual, or cleaner boss reads. Tie that metric to a single linked guide and ignore the rest of the wiki until the metric moves. This keeps Cult of PiN practice deliberate instead of chaotic tab-hopping across every hub at once.
